Classico ranking between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid as a high-risk match
The Spanish government's permanent committee for combating violence, racism, xenophobia, and intolerance in sport announced today, Wednesday, the classification of the FC Barcelona vs Real Madrid match scheduled for October 25 at Spotify Camp Nou as a high-risk match.
According to "Mundo Deportivo", the decision comes amid expectations of heightened tension during the first El Clásico of the season, in light of Real Madrid's repeated objections to refereeing decisions, especially in the last two rounds of LaLiga.
Real Madrid's main objections stem from the match against Atlético Madrid, where Kang Lee-in escaped a red card for his challenge on Fede Valverde, a decision made by referee Ortiz Arias. This came after Dean Huijsen was sent off for conceding a penalty against Giuliano Simeone at the start of the second half.
Real Madrid has also criticised Vinicius Junior's red card during the match against Villarreal last Saturday, after he pulled a Villarreal player by his hair, a punishment that could deprive the player of participating in the upcoming Clasico. The club also objected to the yellow card received by Konaté, arguing that the French defender did not touch his opponent.
In light of these circumstances, strict security measures are expected to be taken before, during, and after the match, with police reinforcements deployed around Spotify Camp Nou.
