Villarreal star hits back at Mourinho over comments
Santi Commisso, Villarreal midfielder, has responded to Portuguese José Mourinho's comments regarding officiating in the match between the Yellow Submarines and Real Madrid, which took place over the past weekend and sparked widespread controversy due to the refereeing decisions witnessed during the game.
José Mourinho had refused to comment directly on the match during the press conference he held yesterday ahead of Roma's clash, stating that he did not want to talk about the matter. However, he pointed out that watching the first minute of the match against Villarreal is enough to understand his stance on the officiating.
In contrast, Kommersania did not hide his surprise at Real Madrid's objections and Mourinho's statements, confirming that the players of the royal team exerted significant pressure on the referee from the start of the match, in his words.
Villarreal midfielder said: "I saw something from the first minute. I don't know why they complain about the referee and so on. If it's a red card, it's a red card. They were pressing him from the first minute, and there were illogical things. They know what they are doing, while we were focusing on ourselves."
Comisania concluded his remarks: "We played a good match, and it was unfortunate not to come away with any positive result from that encounter."
The referee sparked controversy within Real Madrid's camp due to his decisions in general, but specifically regarding the red card shown to Vinícius after the latter grabbed Saliba's hair, a decision that led to the cancellation of Real Madrid's second goal scored by Vinícius.
