Boruk: Barcelona players understand each other well, and this is what we succeeded in proving
Okan Buruk, the head coach of Galatasaray, expressed pride in his players' performance despite the heavy loss against Barcelona, while also praising the abilities of the Catalan team, describing their players as resembling a machine due to their great understanding on the pitch.
Boruk said: "We represented football in our country well, and at times, we showed that Turkish football is capable of delivering good things, whether through the pitch or the atmosphere created by the fans. We proved that we are a team worthy of playing in the Champions League."
He added: "We were too hasty, Barcelona pressed us, but it wasn't necessary to play all the long balls. During the game, we also need to analyze the match well; the players need to understand the flow of the game better and interact with it. We succeeded in that during part of the match, but when we fell behind in the score, we couldn't handle the situation."
He continued: "In the first half, up until a certain point, we did what we wanted, but as we approached the end of the first half, we dropped back into our penalty area, which is something I didn't want too much."
He explained: "We played against players who know each other inside out, they are like a machine, we feel sad because we lost."
Borouk also spoke about Rafael Leão, praising what he delivered during the match, saying: "He did a good job during the match, and he also created a goal; it's not easy, as he is also going through a certain phase."
