Chelsea prepare to submit huge contract to sign De Jong

Chelsea are preparing to make a huge financial offer to sign Frenkie de Jong from FC Barcelona during the upcoming winter transfer window, as they seek to strengthen their midfield with an experienced player.

CaughtOffside reports that the English club is prepared to make De Jong one of the highest-paid players in its ranks if it successfully convinces FC Barcelona to agree to his departure in January.

Frenkie de Jong is 29 years old and is contracted to FC Barcelona until 2029, having renewed his contract last year, which gives the Spanish club a strong position against attempts to sign him.

The player is attracting Chelsea's interest due to his ability to retain the ball under pressure, advance it through midfield, and control the tempo of matches, alongside his vast experience in major competitions.

The same source indicated that Frenkie de Jong's transfer to Chelsea in January seems difficult, but it is not impossible, explaining that the huge financial offer alone will not be enough to complete the deal, given the player's importance to FC Barcelona.
