Eze: We need to be ruthless, and happy to score
Eberechi Eze, Arsenal's winger, expressed his satisfaction with his team's performance during their 3-1 victory over Lille in the second round of the UEFA Champions League at the Emirates Stadium.
Eze said in his statements after the match: "We put in a good performance and did what we had to do. We played freely and enjoyed the game. I am always happy to score, to make an impact in matches, and to enjoy myself on the pitch and express myself."
Regarding the need to be patient during matches, Arsenal's winger explained: "That can happen here. Many teams come with great energy, so the first halves can be tough, but we know we have to keep pressing until we can eventually wear down the opponents. It was a good day."
He added: "It's really enjoyable. When you play with this kind of players, you always find yourself connecting with them and finding spaces. I enjoy that, and as long as I maintain this level, I'm happy."
Ezi spoke about the depth of Arsenal's squad and the competition among players, saying: "It's tough, as every player wants to participate. The mentality is always the desire to be on the pitch, to impact the matches, and to prove your worth in the team. I do what I can and enjoy what I bring."
Speaking about the conversation that took place between the players and the coaching staff during the break, Eze said: "We knew what we had to do, and there were some simple details that could be adjusted to give us more chances and to get more balls into the opponent's penalty area."
He added: "We trust ourselves and support each other, and we know the quality we have. We play matches to win, and we believe that we can achieve it and that we must do it. It's about the work we've put in on the pitch."
Regarding the different challenges compared to last season, Arsenal winger concluded his statements by saying: "We have a different challenge now. We achieved something great last season, and we want to build on it. We are approaching things from a slightly different angle, but the mentality remains the same, which is to be ruthless and to impose our dominance as much as possible."
