David Raya reveals why Brentford doubted signing him due to his height

David Raya, the Spanish goalkeeper for Arsenal, has revealed his struggles with criticism regarding his height throughout his football career, stating that his stature has been one of the factors that raised doubts about his ability to succeed in the goalkeeper position.

Raya said: "I know that Brentford were not excited about signing me because I am not tall enough," referring to the reservations he faced due to his height compared to traditional standards for goalkeepers.

The Spanish goalkeeper added: "When I joined Blackburn, I wasn't as tall as I am now, I was 178 cm at that time. Throughout my career, they have told me that I am not tall enough."

David Raya concluded his remarks by stating: "This is the reality, and I cannot change it," affirming his acceptance of this truth, while he continued his journey to become one of the standout goalkeepers in English football, following his experiences with Brentford and Arsenal.
