Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya face tough challenge against Al-Ain in AFC Champions League Elite
Iraqi and Arab fans will turn their attention tomorrow evening to Basra International Stadium (Jid' Al-Nakhla), which will host a fiery football clash between Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya and Al-Ain, as part of the second round of the AFC Champions League Elite.
The match will kick off at 9:15 PM Mecca and Baghdad time, where the "Saqour" face a daunting task against the previous title holder with terrifying attacking displays.
Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya enter the match fully aware that there is no room for error; the team is looking to compensate for the setback of the first round, where they lost away to Neftchi of Uzbekistan by a single goal.
The Falcons seem to have found their morale ahead of this major Asian clash after securing an important local victory over Al-Mosul with a score of 3-0 in the league.
This victory is particularly special as it marked the successful debut of experienced coach Rashid Jaber after his return to lead the Falcons, which provided the players with a huge morale boost and tactical confidence that Jaber aims to exploit to achieve a historic positive result against Al-Ain and correct the continental course.
On the other hand, Al-Ain are facing a very tough opponent as they are experiencing one of their best periods of form ever.
Al-Ain are delivering leading and impressive performances both locally and in Asia; in the UAE Pro League, the team is holding the second position, tied with leaders Al-Jazira on goal difference, after rounds that have seen a remarkable attacking display.
On the Asian front, Al-Ain showed their teeth early in the first round, delivering a harsh football symphony by hitting Al-Nassr with four goals without reply (4-0), sending a strong message to all their group competitors that they are coming to Basra for a perfect score and nothing less.
Tactically, the match will serve as a complex chess game between Rashid Jaber, who will certainly rely on strict defensive organization and quick counter-attacks, taking advantage of the home ground and the Iraqi crowd that will support the Falcons, and the attacking system of Al-Ain, which is characterized by possession and quick individual solutions.
Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya aim to curb the Al-Ain storm early and avoid conceding goals in the first quarter of the match to frustrate the visitors' morale.
