FC Barcelona takes a crucial step towards the renovation of Spotify Camp Nou
The Spotify Camp Nou redevelopment project has taken an important new step, with the completion of the pressure ring around the upper part of the third tier, following the installation of the final piece of the structure on Monday.
Mundo Deportivo reports that the completion of the structure came after waiting for temperatures to drop, due to the impact on the metal structures and contraction with temperature changes, which required the steel to reach suitable thermal conditions to complete the final installation process.
With the final piece installed and the loop closed at a 360-degree angle, the project is ready for the next phase, which involves the installation of 92 radial steel cables connecting the outer pressure ring to the inner tension ring. This structure will form the basis on which the roof membrane will be installed later.
These works represent a fundamental step towards the major elevation process, which will see the roof raised and placed over the entire stands of the stadium.
According to the schedule adopted by FC Barcelona, the roof raising operation is set to take place in the summer of 2027, after the end of the 2026/2027 season, specifically between June and July, in one of the most significant phases of the stadium redevelopment.
The roof installation at Spotify Camp Nou is expected to take around four months, covering almost all seats, while the pitch will remain the only area unprotected from rain.
