Surprise in El Shenawy's contract with Al Ahly FC

According to journalist Mohamed Shobana, renewing Mohamed El Shenawy's contract with Al Ahly FC will not ensure him a fixed place in the starting lineup. The coaching staff intends to divide the responsibilities in goalkeeping, with Mostafa Shobeir taking charge of the team's goal in local league matches, while El Shenawy is set to feature in Confederation Cup matches, opening the door for a strong competition between the two.

Shabana stated in remarks on the "Number One" program broadcast on CBC: "There is talk coming from Al Ahly FC that Mustafa Shouber will participate in the league, and Mohamed El Shenawy will be in the Confederation Cup."

He added: "Al Ahly FC, in renewing the contract with Mohamed El Shenawy, canceled the participation percentage, while he refused to do so with Mohamed Hany. It is expected that El Shenawy will adhere to the decisions of the coaching staff, whether he plays or not, after the cancellation of the participation percentage."

He concluded that renewing Mohamed El Shenawy's contract does not mean he will be the first-choice goalkeeper, as performance and readiness on the pitch remain the only criteria to determine the identity of the team's custodian.
