Carlos Queiroz and Ghana FA agree to mutually terminate contract
The Ghana Football Association and Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz have mutually agreed to terminate the contract of the coach who was in charge of the Ghana national team, known as the 'Black Stars', less than a month after his return to the position following his departure at the end of the FIFA World Cup.
Carlos Queiroz has explained in a statement published by the Ghana Football Association that the decision came after discussions held in an atmosphere of mutual respect, confirming that both parties have concluded that ending the professional relationship under the current circumstances is the best option, prioritizing the interests of Ghana, the national team, and Ghanaian football above all else.
The Portuguese coach stated that it was an honor for him to work with Ghana, directing his thanks to the Ghanaian federation and its president for the trust they bestowed upon him. He noted that he took on the role with the aim of contributing to building a stronger future for the national team and developing local talents.
Carlos Queiroz added that the necessary conditions to achieve the goals were not met as required, and that the recent performance contributed to the decision to end the journey, expressing his respect, gratitude, and pride for the time he spent with the national team.
The Portuguese coach has sent a message of support to the "Black Stars" players, urging fans to protect and support them. He emphasized that the talents and capabilities are present, and that this generation is capable of achieving great results for Ghana if unity, support, and the right environment are provided.
Carlos Queiroz concluded his message by thanking the Ghanaian people and the fans of the national team for their passion and support, emphasizing that "Ghana comes first, the Black Stars come first, and Ghanaian football comes first."
