Ghana's football federation has renewed its attempts to convince Eddie Nketiah, Crystal Palace's striker, to change his international allegiance from England to Ghana, according to the Standard Sport.

Nketiah, 27, is still studying his options and has not made a final decision regarding his international future. The striker, of Ghanaian descent, was born in Lewisham, South London, to Ghanaian parents, and has previously represented England at various youth levels. He also became the all-time top scorer for the England U21 team with 16 goals.

At the senior international level, Nketiah has played just one match for England, which was against Australia in October 2023, when he came on as a substitute in the 73rd minute during a friendly that ended in a 1-0 victory for England. Since his only appearance came in an unofficial match, he remains eligible, according to FIFA regulations, to change his national association and represent Ghana.

Ghana hopes to bolster its attacking options with the player who has regained his starting position at Crystal Palace under coach Pierre Sage, having started in the first three matches of the team in the Premier League this season.

Reports from Ghana suggest that the file may have reached an advanced stage, with discussions about preparing the necessary documents to submit a request for a change to FIFA, but official approval has not yet been issued.
