Rony: Manchester United do not deserve league titles if taken from Manchester City

Wayne Rony, former Manchester United legend, stated he would not feel comfortable if his former club were awarded Premier League titles retrospectively, should the relevant authorities decide to strip them from Manchester City due to potential financial rule violations.

Manchester City faces the prospect of sanctions in the financial misconduct case, which could reportedly lead to the stripping of the eight titles the club has won since 2008. The club is expected to appeal any potential punishment, at a time when Rio Ferdinand and David de Gea have discussed the possibility of awarding the titles to Manchester United as a solution if they are taken away from City.

However, Rony, who spoke via the "Stick to United" podcast, rejected the idea of Manchester United receiving those titles, stating: "Honestly, I wouldn't feel comfortable accepting them, because I don't think we deserved them."

A former Manchester United star added: "I put myself in the place of their players; they gave everything they had to win the Premier League, and in their minds, they succeeded in doing so."

Rony said: "If it happened to me, and it suddenly turned out that Manchester United had done the same and the title was taken away from them, I would be completely devastated."
