Ibrahim Hassan, the team's director, explained that the captain of the "Pharaohs" and goalkeeper of Al Ahly FC enjoys full confidence from the coaching staff, stressing that his recent temporary absence or reduced participation does not mean he is out of consideration, but rather he is expected to play a pivotal role in upcoming camps and competitions.

In a television interview with journalist Saif Zahir, Ibrahim Hassan stated: "I have always provided support and assistance to Mohamed El Shenawy, and I will continue to embrace and support him during the upcoming phase, as he still has a pivotal and ongoing role with us in the national team."

Ibrahim Hassan's statements confirm the continued reliance on Mohamed El Shenawy in the Egypt national team's plans, amid the controversy that has surrounded the goalkeeper in recent days following comments made by Hossam Hassan, the Pharaohs' head coach.

Egypt are set to face South Sudan today, Tuesday, in the second round of the Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifiers.
