Supreme Court upholds 4-year prison sentence for Santi Mina

The Spanish Supreme Court has upheld the sentence against Spanish forward Santi Mina, sentencing him to four years in prison for a sexual assault case dating back to 2017.

Mina, aged 30, has been convicted of committing sexual assault against a woman, after she accused him of sexually assaulting her. The case dates back to the period when the player was active with Celta Vigo, before his career came to a halt in the summer of 2023 following the ruling against him.

According to the ruling reported by the newspaper "AS", the court found that the accused "exploited the proximity, surprise, and the situation in which the victim was to commit two non-consensual sexual acts", noting that he stopped his actions when he saw that continuing would require overcoming the victim's resistance by force.

Santi Mina had resorted to several legal measures to challenge the ruling, seeking acquittal, but the Supreme Court rejected his request and upheld the four-year prison sentence.
