Jonas Abdellawi undergoes knee surgery and misses Morocco

Celta de Vigo has announced that Moroccan international Jonás Abdellawi will undergo surgery during the international break, after medical examinations revealed a small loose body in his left knee joint.

The club stated in an official statement that the player's condition requires surgical intervention, which explains his absence from recent matches, having not participated against Málaga and Racing Santander in the league, as well as facing Omonia Nicosia at the start of the team's UEFA Europa League campaign.

Abdellahoui has received a call-up from Jamal Benider, coach of the Morocco U23 national team, to join the upcoming training camp. However, injury will prevent him from participating in the gathering hosted at the facilities of the Mohammed VI Football Complex from September 20 to October 6.

The Morocco U23 national team will play two friendly matches during this camp, the first against Mali on October 1 at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat, and the second against Tanzania on October 5 in the city of Tangier.

The absence of Abdelali is a blow to the coaching staff of the Morocco U23 national team as they await the determination of his return to the pitch based on the developments of his health condition after completing his treatment and recovery from injury.
