Imad Mohammed bids farewell to Mustafa Qabeel with three important tips
Mustafa Qabeel, the striker for Erbil and the Iraq national team, has received three important pieces of advice from his coach Emad Mohammed before heading to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to join the national team for the Gulf Cup "Gulf 27".
The tournament is set to kick off tomorrow with Iraq facing Oman at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium at 5:30 PM local time in Mecca and Baghdad, in Group A which also includes hosts Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
Mustafa Qabeel has been called up urgently after national team striker Ali Al-Hamadi suffered an injury during the first training session of the Lions of Mesopotamia in Jeddah yesterday. He was unable to complete the group training and trained individually to assess the extent of his injury.
The Iraqi Football Association stated in an official statement that Al-Hamadi suffered an injury to his right ankle during training, prompting the coaching staff led by Australian Graham Arnold to substitute him with player Mustafa Qabeel.
The statement added that the choice of Qabeel came after coordination and consultation between the coaching staff of the senior and Olympic teams. Qabeel is set to join the national team delegation tomorrow, arriving from Serbia to Jeddah, where he was with the Olympic team.
After being called up, Mustafa Qabeel commented on his official accounts saying: "We put our trust in God, some wishes find their way when the heart is with Iraq, and when the national team is the dream, the wish becomes part of the dream itself. And may God grant healing and success to my brother Ali Al-Hamadi."
Mustafa Qabeel has traveled from the Serbian capital Belgrade to Jeddah in hopes of joining the national team delegation as soon as possible, although he will not be able to participate in the final training session of the Lions of Mesopotamia this evening, Tuesday.
Sources close to the situation have reported that Iraq U23 coach Emad Mohammed bid farewell to player Mustafa Qabeel before his departure to Jeddah, wishing him success and hoping he meets the expectations of Australian coach Graham Arnold in the Gulf Cup.
Imad Mohammed has made three important recommendations to Mustafa Qabeel. Firstly, he urged him to fully commit to training and show everything he has in order to gain the coach's trust. Secondly, he advised him to play in his usual style by moving on the wing, cutting into the center, and utilizing his speed. Lastly, the third recommendation was to play with a high fighting spirit, as Arnold appreciates this type of combative player.
Mustafa Qabeel is 21 years old, and in the last season, he participated in 17 matches in the Iraq Stars League, scoring 5 goals and providing 5 assists, confirming his potential as a left winger. He is also proficient in playing as a false nine.
Thanks to his performances, Qabeel has caught the attention of Al Ahly FC in recent times, but Erbil's management has insisted on retaining his services as he is a key player for the team. He is also being monitored by popular Iraqi clubs such as Al Zawraa, Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, Al-Shorta, and Al Talaba, but the player is looking to pursue a professional experience outside Iraq.
