Al-Shorta overcome Al-Kahrbaa with a brace in the league
Al-Shorta secured an important and valuable victory against their guests Al-Kahrbaa, winning 2-0 in the match that brought the two teams together this evening in the Iraqi Premier League at Al-Qafas Stadium.
The first half saw a clear advantage for Al-Shorta, who imposed their control on the game and tried from the beginning to enforce their style and pressure Al-Kahrbaa's defense. Meanwhile, Al-Kahrbaa appeared solid and organized defensively, standing well against the attacks of the Green Lyre.
Al-Shorta tried hard through the flanks and the middle, but Al-Kahrbaa's defense was up to the task. It seemed that the first half was heading for a goalless finish, before relief came for Al-Shorta just before the end of the first half, as defender Ahmed Yahya managed to score the first goal for Al-Shorta, giving his team the lead and ending the first half ahead by one goal to nil.
In the second half, Al-Shorta continued to press and dominate possession while looking for a second goal to secure the match early, while Al-Kahrbaa tried to hold on and relied on counter-attacks in hopes of snatching an equalizer.
Despite numerous attempts from Al-Kahrbaa, the second goal was delayed for a long time, keeping the match hanging on a single goal until the final minutes, which increased the tension among Al-Kahrbaa fans.
In the 91st minute of the match, substitute Abdullah Basim succeeded in scoring the second goal for Al-Kahrbaa, effectively killing off the game and securing three points for his team, amidst great joy in the green stands.
With this valuable win, Al-Shorta has raised its tally to 15 points, jumping to 5th place in the Iraq Stars League table. The club is making a strong return to the competition for the top positions after a period of inconsistency.
Meanwhile, Al-Kahrbaa's tally remains at 7 points in 16th place, continuing their spiral of negative results and staying close to the relegation zone, putting them in a difficult position that requires a quick review before it's too late.
