Portugal call up RC Lens talent Mzyan Masloub to U21 squad
Portugal U21 have called up young RC Lens talent Mziyan Masloub Suárez, aged 16, to their squad, in a move that reflects Portugal's commitment to the player who is attracting increasing attention regarding his international future.
Mziyan Masloub Soares was born in France, and he is eligible to represent Portugal, France, and Algeria at the international level. He has previously worn the Portuguese national team jersey at both the Under-16 and Under-17 levels.
In recent months, Luis Freitas, coach of the Portugal U21 national team, has personally engaged in communication with Meziane Masloub Soares and his parents to clarify his future path with the Portuguese national teams and to work on his continued involvement in the national team project.
Portugal has adopted a similar approach with a number of young talents, including Fábio Carvalho, Mateus Mané, and Noah Okafor, in its efforts to retain its top talents eligible to represent them.
The Portugal U21 team is delivering strong results in the qualifiers, having won 6 out of 7 matches and scored 28 goals without conceding any.
