Forlán reveals reason for Suárez's absence from Uruguay squad
Diego Forlán, the interim coach of Uruguay, has revealed his first squad in preparation for the upcoming international break friendlies, which saw a notable absence of striker Luis Suárez.
Diego Forlán has explained that Luis Suárez's absence is due to the player's own decision, emphasizing that the Inter Miami forward preferred to focus on his commitments with the club after recently contributing to the team's victory in the Campeones Cup alongside his teammate Lionel Messi.
Diego Forlán stated during a press conference at Carrasco International Airport before the coaching staff's departure to Sendai, Japan: "I have always talked with Luis, and nothing has changed because I became the coach of the national team. We have a great friendship, and we speak directly, and there is no problem."
The Uruguayan coach added: "We talked, and he understood the matter completely. In fact, the decision was related to him and the situation he is currently experiencing, as he wanted to focus more on what concerns his club."
Luis Suárez continues to play an important role with Inter Miami alongside Messi, while Forlán has decided not to call him up to the Uruguay squad for upcoming friendlies.
