Spalletti before Europa League clash: We must be ready

Luciano Spalletti, Juventus' head coach, spoke about facing NEC Nijmegen in the UEFA Europa League group stage opener, confirming that the opponent has clear ideas and a coach with a strong personality. He emphasized the need for his players to prepare for the match and not allow the opponent to surprise them.

Spalletti said: "We must expect a special style of play from him, in terms of the quality of ideas and the desire to implement specific things on the pitch. This must find us ready, otherwise we could be surprised."

Spalletti praised NEC Nijmegen's attacking capabilities, noting that the team averages two goals per match. He also mentioned having players he knows well, including Nick Woltemade and Dusan Tadic.

He added that the Dutch team relies on wingers who play with their opposite foot to cut inside and create danger, alongside constant pressing, which could make the match difficult if Juventus does not maintain their physical and mental readiness.

Juventus manager returned to discuss the loss against Sassuolo, confirming that the coaching staff analyzed the match in depth and identified areas that need correction, stating: "We were attentive and aware that there was something that needed improvement. We analyzed the matter deeply and identified what we want to do and the adjustments that need to be made to ensure that what happened does not happen again."

He stressed the necessity of line convergence and knowing when to press and when to retreat as a unit, with a focus on the speed of decision-making.

Regarding the pressures and criticisms, Spalletti confirmed that he does not allow them to affect him, stating: "Accepting pressure is a remedy for learning how to deal with life. In my mind, I am the one who decides which idea I give space to and which idea I do not."

He also refused to reveal his lineup against NEC Nijmegen or whether he would pair Nick Woltemade and Randal Kolo Muani in the attacking line, merely confirming that Juventus must be ready to play and prove they are at the level of the club.
