Vergara decides on his international future and agent denies Mexico representation rumors

Italian midfielder Antonio Vergara, of Napoli, has clarified his position regarding his international future, after his agent Mario Giuffredi firmly denied reports suggesting the player could join the Mexico national team.

Reports have suggested that Vergara may be eligible to represent the Mexican national team due to his Mexican roots, which has opened the door for the possibility of him being considered for selection. However, this information has not been officially confirmed by the player, his club, or the Mexican Football Federation.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that these reports are false, citing the player's agent, Giufridi, who stated clearly: "The story is completely fabricated," thus ending the speculation regarding Vergara's international switch.

According to Romano, Vergara will represent the Italian national team, continuing his international career with Italy, after previously wearing the Italy U19 shirt in 2022. His participation with the youth team came in a friendly match against Turkey, which would not have prevented him from choosing Mexico had there been a desire to do so.
