Al-Shorta held to a draw by Erbil in the league

The match between Al-Shorta and Erbil ended in a goalless draw 0-0, in the encounter that brought the two teams together in the fifth round of the Iraqi Premier League, in a contest characterized by competitiveness and balance from both sides throughout the 90 minutes.

The two teams entered the match with clear caution, sharing relative possession. The first 45 minutes did not see any real scoring opportunities, despite intermittent attempts from both sides to reach the opponent's goal.

The highlight of the first half was a goal scored by Erbil's Ifeanyi Eze in the 47th minute, but the referee disallowed it due to a foul before the attack was completed. The teams went into the dressing rooms with the score tied at nil-nil.

With the start of the second half, the same scenario continued, with balanced performance and play largely confined to midfield. Al-Shorta relied on counter-attacks while Erbil attempted to impose their style with short passes and penetrations from the flanks.

In the 78th minute, Ifeanyi Eze returned to find the net against Al-Police once again, but the assistant referee raised his flag to signal the striker was offside, and the referee confirmed the goal was disallowed. Thus, the score remained goalless until the final whistle.

With this draw, Al-Shorta have increased their tally to 8 points, placing them in 8th position in the standings.

Meanwhile, Erbil reached 11 points to maintain its position at the top of the standings, sharing it with Al-Karma, which has the same points total.
