Gasperini: I had no say in the Manu Koné deal

Gian Piero Gasperini, the head coach of AS Roma, has clarified the rumors surrounding his involvement in negotiations for the departure of Frenchman Manu Koné from the team on the last day of the transfer window.

Gasperini stated in remarks to "La Gazzetta dello Sport": "I had no opinion on the Manu Koné deal at all, and we did not receive any official offer for the player on the last day of the transfer window."

AS Roma's coach added: "In any case, there wasn't enough time to complete any deal," thus denying reports that he played a direct role in blocking Koné's transfer to Chelsea in the final hours of the transfer window.

Manu Koné was strongly linked with a move to Chelsea, but the deal ultimately did not go through, allowing the French midfielder to continue with AS Roma, where Gasperini relies on him as one of the key elements in the team's midfield.
