Wolverhampton have announced the loan of their South Korean forward Hee-chan Hwang to Schalke for the season, with an option to make the deal permanent in the summer of 2027.

Hee-chan Hwang has joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2021, making 119 appearances and scoring 22 goals, but he has not featured for the team this season under manager Cézar.

Hee-chan Hwang has had his best season yet with Wolverhampton Wanderers, scoring 13 goals including a famous winner against Manchester City and a brace in a big win over Brentford.

Hee-chan Hwang is the third highest scorer for Wolverhampton Wanderers in the history of his appearances in the Premier League, but he has seen a decline in his scoring in recent years. His last appearance for the team was in the final round of last season against Burnley.

Wolverhampton's technical director Matt Jackson said: "The deal for Hwang was very late before the closure of the German transfer market, but he returns to an environment where he feels comfortable, and all he needs now is to play matches. He is a true professional, has behaved perfectly, and deserves this opportunity."
