Soufiane El-Faouzi reveals reason for choosing to represent Morocco

Soufiane El-Faouzi, a player for Schalke, has revealed the reasons that led him to choose to represent the Moroccan national team, confirming that his decision was based on personal conviction. Despite making his debut with the "Atlas Lions" during a friendly match, which legally allowed him to change his sporting nationality and represent the German national team.

Soufiane El-Faouzi stated in remarks to Sky Sports that he received an invitation to join the Morocco national team in May, joined the squad, and participated in his first international match, which ended with Morocco beating Burundi by five goals to nil.

The player explained that the nature of the friendly match gave him the opportunity to continue thinking about his international future, but he did not hesitate to confirm his position in favor of Morocco, saying: "It was a friendly match, and yet, I enjoyed the experience a lot, and I had a good relationship with the coach. My decision comes from the heart."

Soufiane El-Faouzi highlighted that the development of the Morocco national team in recent years was one of the factors that reinforced his conviction in this choice, pointing to the strong results achieved by the 'Atlas Lions' in the last two editions of the FIFA World Cup.
