Officially: AJ Auxerre signs Axel Tuanzebe

AJ Auxerre has officially announced the signing of defender Axel Tuanzebe on a free transfer following his departure from Burnley.

The 28-year-old international defender from the Democratic Republic of the Congo has signed a one-season contract with an option for an additional season, and he will wear the number 4 shirt.

Twanzeeb developed in the Manchester United academy before going on several loan spells with Aston Villa, SSC Napoli, and Stoke City. He then moved to Ipswich in 2023 and contributed to their promotion to the Premier League.

He joined Burnley in the summer of 2025 and played 14 matches in the Premier League last season.

Twanzeeby has also represented the Democratic Republic of the Congo at the FIFA World Cup 2026, and he is known for his ability to play as a centre-back or as a right-back.
