Chelsea is facing an important decision in the final days of the summer transfer window, as Manchester City is ready to meet their financial request for Argentine Enzo Fernandez, which amounts to £120 million.

According to "CaughtOffside", Manchester City is prepared to pay the amount set by Chelsea, and the club is expected to move quickly to accelerate negotiations before the transfer window closes. Meanwhile, the London club has not ruled out the possibility of selling the 25-year-old player if their financial demands are met.

Manchester City sees Fernandes as one of their top targets in midfield, especially after the departure of several players in that position, despite the team's reinforcement of the midfield with the signing of Elliot Anderson and the imminent acquisition of Ayoub Bouaddi during the current transfer window.

The Guardian reported that Manchester City has reached an agreement with Lille regarding Boubakary Soumaré for a deal that could be worth up to €100 million, after previously signing Anderson. However, Fernández remains one of the options being considered by the English club to strengthen their midfield.

Fernandes possesses playmaking and passing abilities, along with experience at the highest level, but a direct transfer to a Premier League rival would represent a risk for Chelsea, especially since his departure would weaken the team's midfield while strengthening one of their competitors.

Selling Fernandes for £120 million could provide Chelsea with substantial financial flexibility to reinvest in other deals, alongside making a profit compared to the amount the club paid Benfica in 2023. However, the decision remains tied to how essential the player is considered in Xabi Alonso's long-term project.
