Chelsea Officially Extends João Pedro's Contract

Chelsea FC has announced the extension of Brazilian forward João Pedro's contract until 2034, a move that reflects the club's strong faith in the player and its desire to continue relying on him in the coming years.

João Pedro joined Chelsea in July 2025 from Brighton, quickly leaving his mark on the team by scoring in both the semi-final and final of the Club World Cup, contributing to the Blues' global title triumph.

The Brazilian forward has maintained his brilliance during his first full season with Chelsea, netting 20 goals across all competitions, and concluding the 2025-2026 season crowned with the club's Player of the Season award as voted by the fans.

João Pedro spoke after signing the new contract: "I am very happy to sign a new deal with Chelsea. I have always dreamed of playing for a big club, and it means a lot to me to commit to this club for the long term. Chelsea has a long history of victories and big ambitions for the future, I have a very good relationship with everyone at the club, and I felt at home here in London since the moment I joined."

He concluded: "Everyone is very excited for this season. We know we are capable of achieving a lot, we have a great team and a coach who wants to win and has done so before. I am fully committed, and everyone is ready, and we hope to achieve our goals."

João Pedro scored two goals against his former team Fluminense, leading Chelsea to the Club World Cup final. He also found the net in the victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the final, securing the title.

He continued his scoring brilliance at the start of the 2025-2026 season, netting Chelsea's first goal of the campaign against West Ham United, before securing the only winning goal in the away clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Brazilian forward made his mark in Europe, scoring twice in Chelsea's win over Napoli in the Champions League.

João Pedro finished the season with 20 goals for Chelsea across all competitions, earning the Player of the Season award as voted by the club's fans.
