Al-Zawraa managed to secure only one point from their encounter against hosts Karbala, after a 1-1 draw in a match that saw dramatic twists and turns. The "Nawaris" continue to bleed points, remaining winless after two rounds.

Despite taking the lead with a goal from Michael Cabrera in the 68th minute and playing with ten men, Al-Zawraa returned to Baghdad with just one point after a last-gasp equalizer. What led to this setback?

The most significant problem that has emerged in Al-Zawraa's performance since the start of the season is the absence of cohesion among the team members.

Al-Zawraa has entered this season in a completely different guise. New names, young elements, and a style of play that Bassim Qasim is trying to establish. This significant change requires time, which was evident in their match against Karbala.

The team is still searching for cohesion between the lines. We see players with good individual levels, but the connection between defense, midfield, and attack is often lacking, as evidenced in several moments during the first half.

Poor passing, lack of movement off the ball, and absence of collective attacking solutions are all signs that the "Biancocelesti" need more time to reach the level of cohesion that will allow them to impose their identity in tough matches.

The second point, and the most impactful, was the direct red card shown by the referee to Massis Artin in the 13th minute.

A strong challenge on the Karbala forward led to a VAR review confirming the decision. From that moment on, the dynamics of the match changed completely.

Playing with ten men for 80 minutes against a team in front of their home fans is a severe physical and mental test for any team. Bassem Qassem was forced to make emergency adjustments that impacted the attacking shape, forcing the team to rely on counter-attacks.

Despite Al-Zawraa displaying a strong character and managing to take the lead, it was the significant physical effort exerted by the players in coverage and defense that cost the team in the final minutes.

In the 90th minute, from a cross that posed little threat, defender Ali Adnan made a grave error by inadvertently turning the ball into his own net, gifting Karbala the equalizer.

The goal broke all of Al-Zawraa's efforts in the second half. Goalkeeper Ahmed Basel had a great match, saving several shots, and the defense held firm for hours, but one mistake at the wrong time was enough to squander the first victory.

Such individual errors also reflect a lack of concentration resulting from physical fatigue and the psychological pressure caused by being a man down.

With this draw, Al-Zawraa's points tally stands at just two, the same as Karbala, and the team is still in search of their first win.
