Arbil Secures Signing of Hussein Hassan

Arbil FC announced today, Monday, the official signing of international goalkeeper Hussein Hassan, who will join the first team for the Iraqi Premier League in the current 2026-2027 season.

The deal was finalized after negotiations that took some time, and according to the club's official website, the goalkeeper has signed a contract that extends for three upcoming seasons with the "Yellow Emperor."

Hussein Hassan's story with Erbil began at the end of last season, when he joined the team on loan from Al-Zawraa.

Bassem Qassem, the coach of Al-Zawraa, insisted on the player and rejected the continuation of his loan, urging him to return to the squad. Indeed, the goalkeeper returned to Baghdad and participated in the white team's training in preparation for the new season.

Hassan returned and requested the Al-Zawraa management to grant him a release letter, which was approved. After obtaining the official clearance, the goalkeeper completed the procedures to join Erbil, becoming a permanent player for the Kurdish team.

Arbil's management described the transfer as "crucial" in strengthening the most important position on the pitch ahead of the league kickoff. The team began its campaign in the competition last Friday and aims this season to secure a spot in the top four and compete vigorously for the leading positions.

Hussein Hassan is 26 years old and has previously represented Al-Karkh and Al-Zawraa in the domestic league, leaving a clear mark on both teams.

On the international stage, the goalkeeper has represented the Iraqi Olympic team and has also been included in the senior national team list on several occasions, giving him an edge in experience compared to many goalkeepers in the league.

The three-season signing confirms that Arbil's management is looking towards the future and wants stability in the goalkeeper position.
