Lens Claims French Super Cup Against Paris Saint-Germain
Lance has been crowned the French Super Cup champions after securing a valuable victory over Paris Saint-Germain with a score of 1-0 in the match held on Sunday evening at the Bollaert-Delelis Stadium.
Florent Thauvin scored the only goal of the match in the 32nd minute, after his teammate Odol delivered a low cross, which he easily converted into the back of the Parisian net.
Lance suffered a major blow in the 39th minute when their player Kylian Antonio was sent off for a violent tackle on a Paris Saint-Germain player. However, the team managed to maintain their lead until the end of the match.
Just before the end of the first half, Desiree Doi's shot struck the crossbar in stoppage time, causing Paris to miss a valuable opportunity to equalize.
In the 76th minute, Paris Saint-Germain scored a goal, but the referee disallowed it for offside, before the team faced another blow with Nuno Mendes being sent off in the 87th minute for a foul on a Lens player.
In the 89th minute, Lance believed they had scored a second goal, but the referee disallowed it for a foul, allowing the team to maintain their narrow lead and clinch the French Super Cup title for the first time in their history.
