Arteta Reassesses Kepa's Future at Arsenal

Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga faces an unclear future with Arsenal, given the modest performances he has delivered during the pre-season preparations for the new campaign.

Kepa joined Arsenal from Chelsea last summer, but he has not appeared to be a candidate for a key role, as manager Mikel Arteta relies on David Raya as his first-choice goalkeeper.

The Telegraph reported that Kepa's fluctuating performance during pre-season could prompt Arteta to reassess his stance, especially since continued levels like this could lead to a decline in his transfer market value.

Arsenal has signed Illan Meslier earlier this summer, providing the team with another backup goalkeeper, which may indicate that Kepa's continuation at the club is unnecessary, as he has yet to reassure the fans about his performance.

Kepa had the opportunity to participate in cup matches last season, starting against Manchester City in the League Cup final, which ended in a 2-0 defeat for Arsenal, after he made a mistake that contributed to the first goal during the match held at Wembley Stadium.

Journalist Ben Jacobs previously indicated the possibility of Kepa leaving Arsenal this summer, stating that the Spanish goalkeeper is open to a move in search of a starting opportunity, following the club's signing of Meslier, who became a free agent after leaving Leeds United.
