Tottenham Announces Van de Ven Contract Renewal

Tottenham Hotspur has officially announced the renewal of Dutch defender Mickey van de Ven's contract until 2031, with an option for an additional year, allowing the player to continue his journey with the team after three seasons in which he delivered impressive performances and became one of the key figures in the London club's backline.

Micky van de Ven joined Tottenham from VfL Wolfsburg in August 2023, and since then he has asserted himself as one of the best defenders in Europe, thanks to his great speed, strength in duels, and ability to build play from the back.

Micky van de Ven spoke after signing his new contract: "This is a special moment for me to sign a new deal, and it’s a moment of pride for me and my family. I have always loved Tottenham since the first day I set foot in this place. I love the club and the fans, and I have developed a lot here; it’s clear the direction the club wants to go in, and I want to be a part of that. I am excited for what’s to come."

Roberto De Zerbi stated: "Micky is one of the best center-backs in Europe and an important player for us. He has the quality, mentality, and ambition we want at Tottenham, and I am very happy that he decided to continue his journey with the club. Micky van de Ven is approaching 100 appearances in a Tottenham shirt, having played 45 matches across all competitions last season, including 34 in the Premier League, bringing his total appearances for the club to 96, during which he scored 10 goals.

On the international front, Van de Ven has represented the Netherlands since his debut against France in October 2023. He was also included in the squad for Euro 2024 and the 2026 World Cup, currently boasting 24 international caps with the Oranje.
