2026-2027 CAF Champions League Preliminary Round Draw Results

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) conducted the draw for the preliminary rounds of the Champions League for the new season 2026-2027 today, Thursday, in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has decided to exempt South Africa's Sundowns, Tunisia's Esperance, and Morocco's RS Berkane from participating in the preliminary round of the tournament, based on the advanced ranking of these clubs.

Here are the key matches from the Round of 64 draw:

Zamalek is set to face AS Port from Djibouti.

Gor Mahia Kenya takes on Pyramids.

Eagle Nawar against Al Hilal Sudan.

Sport Star will face Gambian side Medina in the 32nd round of the competition. The winner of this match will go on to meet Morocco's RS Berkane.

Al-Suwaihli Libyan side Al-Suwaihli will face KFZ FC, with the winner advancing to meet Tunisian club Esperance in the 32nd round.

Chabab Saoura of Algeria is set to face Horoya from Guinea in an exciting clash.

Al Merrikh Sudanese side Al Merrikh is gearing up to face Power Dynamos from Zambia.

Africain Tunisian side Africain faces off against Malian club Djoliba.

The first preliminary round matches of the Africa Champions League are set to begin in September 2026, while the second preliminary round will take place in October 2026. The group stage is scheduled between November 2026 and January 2027, with the finals concluding the tournament from May 9 to May 31, 2027.

Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa were crowned champions of the CAF Champions League for the 2025-2026 season, following a 1-1 draw against Moroccan side RS Berkane in the second leg of the final, benefiting from their 1-0 victory in the first leg.
