Mbemba's arrival follows the end of his contract with Lille OSC, enhancing the backline of the newly promoted team, benefiting from his extensive experience in European and international football. The 31-year-old defender is regarded as one of the top defensive names in Africa, having had a professional career with several prominent clubs in England, Portugal, and France. Mbemba has previously donned the jerseys of Newcastle United, FC Porto, and Olympique de Marseille, before his last stint with Lille, and he also captains the Democratic Republic of Congo national team.
