Flamengo has made its position clear regarding negotiations to sign Argentine Thiago Almada from Atlético Madrid, emphasizing its commitment to its financial terms and refusing to engage in any bidding war with River Plate, despite the heightened competition for the player's signature during the summer transfer window.

Reports indicate that Atletico Madrid has made the decision to part ways with Almada after a season that did not meet expectations, in a move aimed at recouping as much value as possible from the deal the club made to sign him in last summer's transfer window.

According to reports, Flamengo has reached an agreement with the Spanish club to pay €20 million for 50% of the player's rights. Negotiations with Almada had shown significant progress before stalling in the final stages.

The Argentine international was anticipating an offer from a European club, but the lack of any official movement from the old continent has seen River Plate strongly re-enter the race to sign him. The player now finds himself faced with a choice between returning to the Argentine league or embarking on a new adventure in Brazilian football.

Meanwhile, Flamengo's sporting director, José Boto, emphasized that the club's management will not change its financial stance regardless of how the competition evolves, confirming that the submitted offer is final and there is no room for an increase.

Botto stated in comments reported by Coluna do Fla: "I did not travel to Argentina to convince Almada, that doesn't seem logical. He has played in Brazil for six months, and he is well aware of the value and size of Flamengo."

He added: "We will not engage in any bidding. The offer we agreed upon with Atletico Madrid and the player will remain as is, and if he wants to join Flamengo, the doors are open for him."

The sporting director concluded his remarks by emphasizing that the management prioritizes the club's financial stability, stating: "How many transfers have exceeded 20 million euros in the history of Brazilian football? There are only seven transfers. The president of Flamengo is responsible for maintaining financial balance and not exposing the club to any risks."
