Official: Chelsea Announces Mudryk's Return After Drug Suspension Appeal

Chelsea has received a significant boost ahead of the new season, as their Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk is now eligible to return to the pitch immediately, following the Court of Arbitration for Sport's (CAS) decision to partially accept his appeal against the suspension imposed due to a doping case.

The 25-year-old player has been absent from official matches with the London club since November 2024, before facing a temporary suspension the following month after testing positive for the banned substance "Meldonium" in one of his samples.

Despite the English Football Association imposing a four-year suspension on him, Mykhailo Mudryk turned to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which decided to allow him to return to competition immediately after he admitted to violating anti-doping regulations and agreed that the time he has already served is sufficient punishment.

Chelsea has welcomed the referee, stating in an official statement that they look forward to Mykhailo Mudryk regaining his full fitness, returning to the squad, and then to matches. The club noted that the player will join the team's training camp on Sunday in Hong Kong, in preparation for the new season.

The club stated: "We understand how important this opportunity is for him to return. Our focus now is on supporting Mudryk's reintegration into the team and helping him resume his career. Everyone at the club is now looking forward to assisting him in getting back to full fitness, to the team, and to the pitch."
