Montazer Al-Majed Set for Return to Iraq This September

Munther Al-Majid, the Hamari player, is having a remarkable season this year and is eagerly awaiting the arrival of September, hoping to return to the Iraqi national team after a prolonged absence.

The 21-year-old Iraqi winger has participated in 14 matches with Hammarby in the Swedish Allsvenskan so far, playing in every game and scoring 5 goals, which has strengthened his position within the squad he has represented since 2022.

Montazer is strongly eager to be with the Lions of Mesopotamia in the upcoming challenges, primarily the Gulf Cup "Gulf 27" scheduled in Saudi Arabia this September. His previous absence was due to an administrative decision by coach Graham Arnold, following his appearance in a live broadcast where he did not comment on criticisms regarding the national team's call-up process.

However, the situation has changed now. The Australian coach has opened the door for the player's return, confirming that he is not placing any barriers to his reintegration, noting that he is closely watching his performance with Hammarby in Sweden.

A much-anticipated topic was raised in meetings of the Iraqi Football Federation, chaired by Younis Mahmoud, before the World Cup. However, the coach preferred to set it aside at that time to maintain group stability ahead of the 2026 World Cup. Today, the atmosphere seems ripe for his return.

The player is currently focused on enhancing his physical and technical readiness with his club, aiming to convince the coaching staff that he deserves a permanent spot in the starting lineup.

Majid has played just four matches for the national team, making his debut in the summer of 2024 under Spanish coach Jesus Casas. His international career has since stumbled due to various circumstances.
