Media reports: Proposal to launch the 'Turkish Nations' tournament with 8 teams

Uzbek media has reported a proposal from the Turkish Football Federation to hold an international tournament similar to the Arabian Gulf Cup, featuring Türkiye and Central Asian countries, to be held every two years.

According to the proposal, the tournament will be named the 'Turkish Nations Championship', and it will initially feature the national teams of Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan.

Reports suggest that organizers may invite an eighth team to complete the number of participants, with Syria, Iraq, and Iran mentioned as potential options due to the presence of Turkish-origin minorities in these countries.

It is still unclear whether the proposal has entered the formal procedures stage or if there are any announced details regarding the date of the first edition and the tournament system.
