Jordan Appoints Badou Zaki as National Team Coach

The Jordan Football Association has appointed Moroccan coach Badou Zaki as the head coach of the national team, with a one-year contract that can be renewed by mutual agreement. Zaki will lead the "Nashama" in upcoming competitions, including the 2027 AFC Asian Cup scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia.

The decision to appoint the new coach came during a meeting of the Jordanian Football Federation's board, chaired by Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, who also approved the resignation of coach Jamal Salami and his technical staff, thanking them for their contributions during the past period. The federation confirmed that the official introduction of the new coach and his technical staff will be announced later, in accordance with his recommendations.

Badou Zaki is one of the most prominent names in Moroccan football, boasting an impressive record as both a player and a coach. He led the Moroccan national team to a historic achievement by reaching the Round of 16 in the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, and he was awarded the title of African Player of the Year in 1986, showcasing remarkable performances during his career with Spanish club Real Mallorca.

In coaching, Badou Zaki led the Morocco national team to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations in 2004. He has also managed clubs such as Wydad Casablanca, FUS Rabat, Kawkab Marrakech, and Ittihad Tanger, in addition to overseeing the national teams of Sudan and Niger.
