Infantino: World Cup Expansion to 64 Teams to be Discussed After Current Tournament
FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed that the issue of expanding the World Cup to include 64 teams will be discussed within the relevant committees after the current tournament concludes.
Infantino emphasized that FIFA believes in giving all countries the chance to dream of participating in the World Cup, noting that this is one of the goals for the global development of the game.
The FIFA chief added that the technical level of national teams worldwide is continuously improving, asserting that the gaps between teams have become smaller than before.
He concluded his remarks by stating, "If smaller nations are not given the opportunity to participate in the World Cup, they will lack the motivation to continue progressing," indicating that expanding the tournament could help foster the growth of football globally.
