Deschamps' Era with France Ends After 14 Years
Didier Deschamps' tenure as the head coach of the French national team has come to an end after their exit against Spain in the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup, marking the conclusion of one of the longest and most successful coaching periods in the history of Les Bleus.
Didier Deschamps had previously announced that the 2026 World Cup would be his final stop with the French national team, after a journey that began in August 2012 and lasted nearly 14 years, during which he led France to the pinnacle of world football.
Didier Deschamps has enjoyed a remarkable tenure, clinching the 2018 World Cup and the 2021 UEFA Nations League. He also guided France to the final of the UEFA Euro 2016 and the World Cup final in 2022, before his journey concluded in the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup.
Didier Deschamps bids farewell to his position after leaving an exceptional legacy with the French national team, both as a player and as a coach. As a player, he was a world champion in 1998, and as a coach, he led the 'Les Bleus' to the world title 20 years later.
