Official: Milan Signs Mario Gila

AC Milan has officially announced the signing of Spanish defender Mario Gila from Lazio, bolstering the squad ahead of the new season with a contract running until June 30, 2031. Gila will wear the number 34 shirt.

The club stated in its official announcement that Gila, born in Barcelona on August 29, 2000, began his career in youth teams in Spain before moving to Real Madrid's academy, where he progressed through the ranks to reach Real Madrid Castilla, making his first-team debut during the 2021/2022 season, which saw the club crowned La Liga champions.

The statement added that the Spanish defender transferred to Lazio in the summer of 2022, making 120 appearances for the team over four seasons, scoring two goals, and gaining significant experience from his participation in Serie A and European competitions.

Milan noted that Gila made his official debut for the Spain U21 team on September 23, 2022, and participated in the U21 European Championship in 2023, where he made three appearances before receiving his first call-up to the senior Spain national team in 2025.
