Gattuso named Serie A manager of the month for October

Gennaro Gattuso, the head coach of SS Lazio, has been awarded the Best Coach in Serie A for October, following the impressive start his team has made this season and their success in topping the league standings.

Serie A announced today, Friday, November 6, that Gattuso has won the "Philadelphia Coach of the Month" award after leading Lazio to 9 victories and 1 draw in the first 10 rounds of the competition, accumulating 28 points, 3 points ahead of second-placed Inter, achieving the best start in its history after 10 rounds since the three-point system for a win was adopted.

The award comes in recognition of the results achieved by SS Lazio during the month of October, having won against AC Monza 3-1, Juventus 3-0, Parma 2-1, and US Sassuolo 6-2, scoring 14 goals while conceding only 4 in the four matches.

The team's strong start has continued into November, with a 2-1 victory over Cagliari on the first of the month, further solidifying their lead and marking their ninth win in the Serie A. Their players have scored 24 goals and conceded 8 in the first 10 rounds.

One of the most notable aspects of Gennaro Gattuso's work is the attacking diversity, as 12 different players have scored for the team in the first nine matches, indicating a distribution of attacking responsibilities and not relying on a single player. Nosslin leads the scoring chart for SS Lazio with four goals, followed by Davide Frattesi and Isaksen with three goals each, along with contributions from midfielders and defenders, including Nuno Tavares and Profstad.

Luighi Di Servio, the executive director of Serie A, praised the work done by Gattuso, considering that the top position in the standings and achieving a record number of points reflect the significant impact of the Italian coach.

De Servo stated that Gattuso has succeeded in building a modern team characterized by organization, speed, and defensive solidity, noting his ability to instill his fighting personality and competitive spirit into the players, forming a group capable of handling various match conditions.

Lazio's achievement gains additional significance considering past seasons, having finished three consecutive seasons outside the top six. Gennaro Gattuso has successfully brought the team back into contention for the top spots. The team has also surpassed its current points tally, achieving the best start recorded by teams that have previously won the Serie A after 10 matches.

The award is set to be presented to Gattuso on Saturday, November 21, before the match between SS Lazio and US Lecce at the Stadio Olimpico, as part of the upcoming round of the competition.

Before the trophy ceremony, SS Lazio await a strong encounter against SSC Napoli on Sunday, November 8, at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, in a new test of the league leader's ability to maintain their positive performances and results.
