Official: Al-Ittihad Signs German Coach Jens Wissing
Al-Ittihad has officially announced the signing of German coach Jens Wissing to lead the first team, in preparation for the upcoming season, aiming to bring the team back to the podiums.
Wissing's contract with Al-Ittihad will last for two seasons, extending until the summer of 2025, after both parties reached a final agreement on all contract terms.
The 38-year-old coach is considered one of the young coaching talents, having drawn attention through his coaching experiences in recent years.
Wissing's last coaching stint was with Gamba Osaka in Japan, where he led the team to win the 2022 AFC Champions League, marking his most notable achievement as a head coach.
The new coach employs a 4-2-3-1 playing style, focusing on tactical organization and high pressing, a philosophy he aims to implement with Al-Ittihad in the upcoming phase.
Wissing's appointment comes after the departure of Portuguese coach Sergio Conceicao from Al-Ittihad, with the management hoping the German coach will lead a new project to bring the team back to competing for all titles next season.
