Al-Ahly Halts Negotiations to Renew Kessié's Contract

Thursday 18-06-2026
The management of Al-Ahly Club has halted the procedures for renewing the contract of Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessié, despite the initial approval from the recruitment committee to extend the contract.

According to informed sources for the Saudi sports newspaper, the club had submitted an official request to renew the player's contract before retracting from completing the procedural steps recently.

The current data indicates that Kessié's future with the team has become unclear, as negotiations have stalled without any official announcement regarding his continuation.

Although the talks between the two parties were positive earlier, the player did not express any objection to the idea of extending the contract with the club.

However, Al Ahly's management decided to temporarily freeze the file, while keeping the option to return to negotiations open before the summer transfer window closes.

Kessié joined Al-Ahli in the summer of 2023, coming from Barcelona, and delivered impressive performances that made him one of the standout midfielders in the team.

The player has played more than 100 matches wearing the Al-Ahli jersey and contributed to winning several championships, including the AFC Champions League and the Saudi Super Cup, along with notable goal-scoring records and decisive assists.
