Official sources have revealed the appointment of the international Spanish referee Ricardo De Burgos to officiate the friendly match between the Iraqi national team and its Andorran counterpart, tomorrow evening, Friday, at Montilivi Stadium in the city of Girona.

Ricardo De Burgos was born on March 16, 1986, in Bilbao, and began his refereeing career early in the Spanish second division in 2011.

His outstanding performance hastened his promotion to a field referee in the Spanish Premier League "La Liga" in 2015, where he became one of the fixed names in managing major matches.

De Burgos received the international badge from the International Federation of Football Associations "FIFA" in 2018, making him eligible to manage continental and global meetings.

His classification within the first elite of UEFA referees opened the doors for him to participate in the most important tournaments and gained him extensive experience in dealing with the pressure of decisive matches.

The Spanish referee's first international appearance was in October 2019 when he managed the Belarus vs Estonia match in the Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Since then, he has participated in managing a number of international friendly and official meetings and has become a trusted option for FIFA and UEFA.

On the local level, De Burgos' name has been associated with "El Clasico" matches between Real Madrid and Barcelona. He managed the first leg of the 2017 Spanish Super Cup, which saw Cristiano Ronaldo sent off after pushing him.

He also led the 2023 Spanish Super Cup final, which ended with Barcelona winning 3-1, leading up to the fiery 2025 Copa del Rey final between Real Madrid and Barcelona, which Barca won 3-2 after extra time and saw three Real Madrid players sent off: Jude Bellingham, Antonio Rüdiger, and Lucas Vázquez.
