Carvajal Opens Door to Continue Career After Leaving Real Madrid
Dani Carvajal, the captain of Real Madrid and the veteran right-back, continues to talk about his future after the end of his journey with the royal club, confirming that he does not intend to retire and will continue his professional career, keeping all options open, including continuing in La Liga.
Carvajal played his last match for Real Madrid against Athletic Bilbao at the Santiago Bernabéu on Saturday, after a 23-season career with the club, during which he won 27 titles, including six UEFA Champions League titles and four La Liga titles.
The player also had a season with Bayer Leverkusen before returning to Real Madrid in the 2013/2014 season, continuing with the team until his final farewell amidst emotional scenes within the club.
During his career with Real Madrid, Carvajal participated in 451 official matches and also won the UEFA Nations League 2023 and the European Championship 2024 with the Spanish national team, despite not being called up for the upcoming World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
On Tuesday, Carvajal visited the Valdebebas sports city to bid farewell to the club and collect his personal belongings from his locker, before making statements confirming his continuation in football after his contract with Real Madrid ends on June 30.
Dani Carvajal said in his statements: "Now I will enjoy the summer a little, I will continue playing, that is completely clear to me, we will see what are the best options for me and my family, and then we will make the decision."
He added: "I don't know, we will decide later calmly, I am open to everything and we are working on it."
According to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo", Carvajal's future has not yet been decided, as the player does not rule out continuing in La Liga, with several options on the table, including a move to Italian club Como led by Cesc Fabregas, or an experience outside Europe at Qatari club Al-Gharafa where Joselu plays, or even a return to Bayer Leverkusen to play again alongside Lucas Vazquez.
