Nico Paz Prefers to Stay with Como Despite Real Madrid's Interest

The Argentine player Nico Paz is inclined to continue with the Italian club Como for an additional season, despite his former club Real Madrid having the option to re-sign him for 9 million euros during the current summer transfer window.

Reports in Italy, citing journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, indicated that Nico Paz finds himself torn between the desire of Como, which qualified for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in its history, and Real Madrid, where the 21-year-old player spent most of his career in its youth categories.

Nico Paz transferred to Como in the summer of 2024 for 6 million euros, with a clause granting Real Madrid 50% of any future sale, in addition to specific buy-back clauses valued at 8 million euros last summer, 9 million euros this summer, and 10 million euros in the summer of 2027.

For several months, it has been confirmed that Real Madrid has decided to activate the option to buy back the player this summer, with continuous monitoring of his performance.

However, Como's coach Cesc Fabregas recently clarified the club's desire to retain the player's services, especially after he was awarded the Best Midfielder in the Italian League.

According to the same reports, Nico Paz himself is inclined to stay in Italy for an additional season rather than making an early return to Real Madrid.

It also indicated that Real Madrid is still interested in bringing the player back to Santiago Bernabéu, while Como hopes that the upcoming presidential elections at Real Madrid will serve as a distraction for the officials at the Spanish club.

Real Madrid has less than two weeks left before the expiration of the buyback clause for this year.
