Mourinho Identifies Dalot to Replace Carvajal at Real Madrid

Wednesday 20-05-2026
The Portuguese coach José Mourinho, who is a candidate to take over as Real Madrid's manager, has started planning for the transfer market, prioritizing the right-back position to compensate for the expected departure of Dani Carvajal.

According to the Spanish newspaper "Sport," Mourinho believes that the team needs an alternative that provides greater defensive balance while offering competition for the full-back Alexander-Arnold.

The source indicated that Mourinho has placed the Portuguese player Diogo Dalot, from Manchester United, as a preferred option for this position, due to his experience in the Premier League and his ability to play in more than one defensive position.

The report clarified that the 27-year-old Dalot previously played under Mourinho at Manchester United during the 2018/2019 season, which increases the likelihood of a reunion between them.

The player's market value is around 35 million euros, while his contract with Manchester United extends until 2028. Meanwhile, the English club does not rule out selling some of its players as part of restructuring plans.
